Leicester, England

Leicester is a unitary authority of East Midlands region of England, and a small county town which belongs to the region of Leicestershire. It one of the largest cities in the whole of the United Kingdom. Leicester is regarded as one of the oldest cities of England, with a history taking us 2,000 years back. From the historical sources it is found that the Roman infringements were there as early as 300AD. The city’s Roman roots are quite visualized in the architectural forms and churches like St. Nicholas Church and the Jewry Wall which are prominence of such architectural forms


From the wall of the city it found that the Romans stayed here as early as 300 AD. After that, in the 9th century the city was attacked by Danes and became it part of the boroughs of Danelaws. In the medieval times the importance of Leicester had grown considerably.

There are many important and significant places to visit here in the city like The Curve Theatre, The National Space Centre, Phoenix Arts Centre, The De Montfort Hall, The New Hall Museum and many others.

This city is connected with M1 motorway and M6 junction. East Midlands Airport is the nearest airport which provides easy access to the city, and also the Birmingham Airport which is 40-50 minutes drive from the city. Apart from the above transportation there are bus and cycling networks in the city. This city lies on the banks of River Soar and at the edge of the National Forrest. There is football team related to this city that takes part in the Premier League from 2011 to 2013 and also has a home stadium named the King Power Stadium. With the latest census report in hand Leicester Unitary Authority has a population of 330,000.


Leicester is part of oceanic climate where summer ranges from hot to cool and winters are chilly and there is even distribution precipitation all throughout the year. The highest temperature recorded in the region is 34.50C and in winter the same is recorded as -160C and the average rainfall is 685mm approximately.
